The city of Monteria is the capital of the department of Córdoba, Colombia. It is located northwest of the country in the Colombian Caribbean region, is located on the banks of the Sinu River, so it is known as the "Pearl of the Sinu" main communications center in northwestern Colombia. With a population of 428,602 inhabitants, of which 330 313 people live in the town itself as DANE3 projections. The city is a center ranchers, agribusiness and most important cultural Colombian Caribbean region. Livestock is considered the capital of Colombia, annually celebrates the Livestock Fair during the month of June. It is also an important commercial center and university.
